How Much Does a Website Cost in Birmingham?
A professional website from a Birmingham or West Midlands agency typically costs between £2,500 and £9,000, with small brochure sites from around £500 and complex custom builds running to £15,000 and beyond. Regional pricing is genuinely lower than London, and the gap is larger than most people expect.

Where our own pricing sits
We sit in the middle of the local market rather than at the bottom of it, and do not claim otherwise — a cheaper quote in this region usually means a template, stock copy and no search work, which is a real option and sometimes the right one. What moves our number is page count, whether copy and photography are included, and how many other systems the site has to talk to. Website design covers the work behind it.
Why does Birmingham cost less than London?
Overheads, mostly. A city-centre London agency is paying several times the rent per square foot and paying London salaries. Neither of those makes the website better.
Within the West Midlands there is a further gap: an agency on Colmore Row carries costs that one in Oldbury, Halesowen or Wolverhampton does not. That difference shows up in quotes for identical work.

What should you check in a local quote?
Beyond the six questions in our fuller UK website cost guide, which is the more complete treatment of scope, ownership and post-launch terms, two are worth asking specifically here: where the agency really is, and who actually writes the code.
Is the agency actually where it says it is? A number of “Birmingham” agencies are registered elsewhere, sometimes several miles outside the city, occasionally in another county entirely. It does not necessarily make them worse. It does mean the local knowledge you are paying for — the kind that shapes local SEO and location targeting — may not exist.
Do they do the work themselves? Some regional agencies subcontract development. Again, not automatically a problem, but you should know who is writing your code and where, because website development is the part of the quote you can least easily inspect.

What are the costs after launch in Birmingham?
Same as anywhere: hosting from £15/month, maintenance from £45/month, domain renewal, and content updates. Budget £600–£1,500 a year.
Local rates for ongoing website maintenance run from £45 to £400 a month, in line with the national picture set out in what website maintenance costs by tier.

Questions people ask about this
Is a Birmingham agency cheaper than a London one?
Usually meaningfully so for comparable work, because of overheads rather than quality. Whether it is better is a separate question and depends on the agency.
How much should a small business in Birmingham budget?
For a website expected to generate enquiries, £2,500 to £4,500 covers a properly built starter site. Below that you are in template territory, which is fine if the website is not doing a job.
Do I need a local agency at all?
Not technically. It helps if you want to meet, and if local market knowledge matters to your positioning. It matters less than most local agencies imply.
What does a business website cost in the West Midlands?
Local market pricing for a business website runs from £1,500 to £4,000, with agency starter sites from around £2,500 and e-commerce from £5,000. Complex custom builds start at £15,000.
